Increasing protrusive:

                    

 

There is at least 1.5mm of protrusive movement built into the hinge in both directions for a total of 3mm.

Sometimes when bridge-work involves anterior teeth, additional protrusive movement may be necessary. This can be achieved by cutting a 1 to 1.5mm notch in the hinge. Start by trimming the two lower or the two upper arms. If this does not render enough movement, then trim the two upper and two lower hinges as shown above.

Caution: Do not cut too close to the female snap of the upper hinge as this will adversely affect its grip.
